Success of the AltStore Pal: the first figures fall

Since March 6, 2024, alternative application stores have been permitted on iPhone in the European Union. This is a turning point in the history of Apple, which categorically refused to accept them. European Union commissioners, however, imposed this measure on Apple, as part of the Digital Market Act (DMA).

The AltStore, which is the most popular alternative app store in iOS, has therefore been able to start operating legally in the EU since the implementation of the DMA. In order to adapt to Apple's new rules, AltStore has published an application specifically for residents of the old continent, called Alt Store PAL.

Already 100,000 installations

We learned today that the latter has just exceeded the symbolic bar of 100,000 downloads in the European Union. This figure is all the more impressive when you know the obstacle course you have to face to install it. This remains within everyone's reach, but it is restrictive compared to the usual procedure for installing an application.

Especially sinceyou have to pay €1.50per month to access it. The amount to be paid is not excessive, but as soon as there is a need to take out the bank card, many Internet users generally turn back, even if it is only to verify an identity.

The high number of downloads in Europe is the just reward for the work done by Ridley Scott and his partner, the co-founders of the AltStore. In a publicationX, he shares his joy:
