Samsung, which also works in
the field of mobile payment, has just made a major announcement. Indeed,
the Korean manufacturer has just extended its partnership with
MasterCard to bring Samsung Pay to Europe.
To achieve its goals and compete, or even get ahead of Apple Pay,
Samsung recently purchased the company Looppay, whose solution has several
benefits :
For Samsung Pay, the first trials started in Korea at the beginning of the month.
We also know Samsung's plans to bring its payment system
in the US, but this is the first time that Europe is mentioned.
As you can imagine, Samsung is currently in the middle of negotiations
with European banks. In any case, this is what the company revealed in
its press release without announcing a date of
launch.
If Samsung Pay uses, like Apple Pay, technology developed
by MasterCard to enable and secure payment via mobile with a
unique identifier, the big advantage of Korean compared to Apple and that its
payment method is compatible with terminals already in place. The store
will therefore not need to change hardware to support Samsung
Pay.
So here is a serious competitor for Apple Pay which may perhaps be able to do
react to Cupertino and accelerate the deployment of Apple's solution by
Europe.
