Spotify has just launched a new billed subscription$10.99 per month(≈ around 10 euros): this is the cheapest that the company offers at the moment. At this price, however, we will have to agree todo without audio books. The individual premium plan remains billed at $11.99 per month, without this restriction. For comparison, the “Personal” offer currently costs 11.12 euros per month. We don't know if the new subscription without audiobooks will also be available in France soon, but it's likely.
Spotify is today the world leader in streaming,in pole position against Apple Music, second in terms of market share. The two platforms also compete in the podcast market, with an entry price of 10.99 euros per month for the Cupertino offer. A package at 4.99 euros per month also previously existed, but this has been withdrawn from the shelves.
Audiobooks are also available on their own
In the United States, Spotify offers another offer which allows access to the audio book catalog without benefiting from music streaming. This subscription costs $9.99 per month, or around 10 euros per month at the current exchange rate. However, there is no equivalent for France either, for the moment.
With the package allowing access to audio books, Spotify still remains limited withfifteen hours of listening maximum, over the thirty day period. The Duo offer at $16.99 per month is subject to the same limit, the same for the Individual offer at $11.99 per month. In France, audiobooks are not offered with any of the packages at the moment, but we may also have to limit ourselves to a few hours per month when this is the case.
A catalog of audio books already well stocked at Spotify
More than one hundred and fifty thousand audio books are already available on Spotify,which has just increased its prices in France. Daniel Ek, the Swedish CEO of the company, hopes to bring this format to a new audience, who are not necessarily used to it. The audiobooks are also available in Australia as well as the United Kingdom.
