After thesetbacks of the first retro video game emulation applicationsappeared on the App Store, a lot of hope is pinned on developers ready to do things right. And Riley Testut, known for being the originator offirst alternative app store available on iOS, seems to be one of those. Indeed, following the release of the emulators Emu64 XL (poorly designed), iGBA or even Bimmy, both dislodged by the Californian firm, its famous retro emulation application,Delta, is now available for download in the Apple App Store.
Unfortunately, for the moment, it is not available in France. The App Store link is as follows, you can monitor it from time to time over the next few days and weeks (which we will also do), to see if the app actually appears with us at any time.
What is Delta?
Delta is a retro video game emulation application that could already be installed in the past on iPhone and iPad, in a manner not officially supported by Apple. You had to follow a convoluted procedure, requiring a cable and a PC or Mac connected to the internet. Which is no longer the case, at least in the United States and since the arrival of Delta on the App Store.
Delta allows you to play games from the following consoles on your iPhone:
- NES
- Super NES
- Nintendo 64
- Game Boy Color
- Game Boy Advance
- Nintendo DS
Riley Testut announced that other consoles should be supported subsequently, without having given more details on this subject to date.
But with these6 Nintendo terminals supported, you already have something to have fun with. Especially since the app is compatible with aslew of controllers. And not just any:
- Manettes Nintendo Switch Pro Controller, Switch Joy-Con et Switch Online controllers (NES, SNES, N64)
- Sony PS4 and PS5 controllers
- Xbox One S and Series X controllers
Delta even supportsMFi gamepads and Bluetooth keyboards and mice…
The icing on the cake is that Delta is free and has numerous settings and even themes allowing you to personalize the display of the app and thus disguise it as a GameBoy of the era, for example.

On the other hand, as for Emu64 XL, it will be up to you to find the game ROMs, on your own.
In any case, we can't wait to test Delta on iPhone. And you ?
