Apple has been working on training several AI models for several months. In this race against time for the Cupertino company, Apple has reached an agreement with Shutterstock. The apple brand would have paid between25 and 50 million dollars. This sum would have allowed Apple to use Shutterstock's millions of images totrain its generative AI models.
Anything but a first
If the approach led by Apple may be surprising, it is not the first time that a company wanting to develop AI has concluded an agreement of this kind. Other large companies did not wait for Apple to sign this partnership to do the same.
According to information from the Reuters news agency on the subject, Apple would have concluded the agreement with Shutterstock at the end of 2022, when it releasedChatGPT. Google and Microsoft certainly signed the same contracts.
WWDC in focus?
Apple has not yet developed anything related to its work related to artificial intelligence. The apple brand could, however, speak at the next WWDC. This big week dedicated to developers would be the ideal place to launch new features, AI-related or not.
In a message posted on the social network X, Greg Josiwak, Apple's vice president of marketing, announced that this WWDC was going to be “incredible”. For the moment, no one really knows what announcements Apple will make during this week, but several rumors suggest that AI should be there.
Google in support
Recent reports notably suggest that Apple could use Google andson service Geminiin iOS 18. Such a partnership could help Apple in the development of new features within the iPhone.
At the same time, Apple is still reportedly working on its own artificial intelligence model. The Cupertino company could bringa new Neural Engine for its iPhone 16pourboosterperformance in this area.
