Apple accused of spying on its employees' iCloud accounts and devices

The Apple Park located in Cupertino welcomed a new building called The Observatorylast September during his back-to-school keynote. Here's a new state-of-the-art facility at Apple's headquarters for employees to work in. Unfortunately, Apple Park would not be the haven of peace dreamed of by any tech enthusiast. An employee has just filed a lawsuit against Applefor alleged labor law violations.

Apple would spy on its employees' iCloud accounts and personal devices

In a complaint filed last Sunday in California state court, Amar Bhakta, a California employee of Apple, accuses the company of "exercising physical, video and electronic surveillance" on its employees. Apple would inspect data from their personal iCloud accounts and non-work devices. Employees would be required to use their personal iCloud accounts to work and agree to use software allowing management tosee virtually everything that's happening on their device, including its real-time location.

In addition, Apple is said to be harming the job prospects of Amar Bhakta, who has worked in advertising technology for the Apple brand since 2020. In particular, management reportedly banned him from participating in public conferences on digital advertising and forced toremove information relating to his employment at Apple from his LinkedIn page.

In the past, Apple has already been accused of the same abuses. The company assured at the time that “cEvery employee has the right to discuss their pay, hours and working conditions, and this is part of our Business Conduct Policy, which all employees are trained on annually».

The Cupertino company could be forced topay penalties for each labor law violation to affected employeesif found liable in California state court. Earlier in the year, employeesaccused Apple of firing them because of their unionization.
