The keynote was not the only significant meeting on September 9 for Apple. Last Monday, the tech giant inaugurated a new structure within Apple Park in Cupertino. It is called “The Observatory”, l’Observatoire in French. The underground building located on the hillside is designedto serve as a presentation venue for Apple products, in addition to the Steve Jobs Theater.
Apple claims to have built The Observatoryin favor of sustainable development and biodiversity.«Like all Apple facilities, it is powered by 100% renewable energy, including on-site solar. From concrete selection to air filtration system to rainwater harvesting, every decision was made with the environment in mind", John De Maio, Apple's global head of real estate design and development, tells Dezeen.
