“It’s Glowtime” Keynote Summary: iPhone 16, Apple Watch Series 10, AirPods 4 and other new features

You who follow Apple news are used to it: every year, at the beginning of September, the Californian firm announces major new features for its flagship products, the iPhone and the Apple Watch, during a important Keynote. Introduction

After a short video advocating inclusiveness, a value dear to Apple, and the usefulness of Apple products for everyone, Tim Cook appeared in the center of Apple Park to introduce us to the announcements of the day, well sure centered around AI, the iPhone, the Apple Watch and AirPods, as predicted by numerous rumors in recent days.

The summarized technical sheet of the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus

• Processor:A18 Bionic chip (16-core Neural Engine, 6-core CPU, including 2 high-performance and 4 low-consumption, 5-core GPU), engraved in 3 nm
• Screen :Super Retina XDR, OLED technology, up to 1600 nits for HDR brightness. Protected by Ceramic Shield glass
• Sizes:6.1 inches screen diagonal for the 16 and 6.7 inches for the 16 Plus
• Design :on the back, the dual-lens camera is integrated vertically, one sensor under the other
• Rear camera:48-megapixel dual sensor with f/1.6 aperture, intelligent stabilization and 2x telephoto lens
• Bouton Action :this button, previously exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max, is included on the edge of the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus

• Bouton Camera Control :new button to trigger Camera actions (photo settings in particular) or take advantage of AI functionality. For example, you can point the iPhone camera at an animal, a store, a flower, etc. , and using this button, Apple Intelligence will immediately give you information about the object taken in the photo
• Spatial photos :For the first time, an iPhone can record “space photos”
• Noise Cancellation:When taking video, iPhone removes wind noise
• Autonomy:improved compared to iPhone 15

Apple Intelligence :

Without being specific to the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus, Apple presented some features of Apple Intelligence, image generation, image classification, text correction and transformation, etc. Nothing new compared to what we already saw during the last WWDC. What's new for the Apple Watch Series 10?

• Design :(slight) change in style for the case, it is thinner (9.7 mm) compared to Series 9 and its edges are more blunt
• Screen :Next-generation OLED display, larger than Series 9 and larger than Watch Ultra for improved reading and navigation
• Screen brightness:improved especially for certain viewing angles
• Finishes:new Jet Black color, in addition to the classic Rose Gold and Space Silver (for the stainless steel case)
• Material :choice of a new case using a new polished titanium material with 3 finishes, black, gray, gold

AirPods

AirPods 4

The AirPods 4 take over from the 3rd generation headphones introduced to the market in 2019. The AirPods 4 are offered in two versions, one with active noise cancellation, the other without.

• Active noise reduction (only for the second, more expensive model)

AirPods Max

As for AirPods Max, count on 5 new finishes, including Orange and Purple, but also the switch to USB-C connectivity instead of Lightning.

AirPods Pro and health

The AirPods Pro 2, already available, benefit from new software improvements:

• Real-time loud noise protection
• Hearing test:you can launch a test measuring your hearing, lasting 5 minutes, allowing you to monitor your hearing loss as you age and/or in the event of pathology
• Hearing aid:the headphones can be used as a hearing aid
• Automatic sound adjustment based on your hearing profile

These new features will arrive in the fall, after expected validation from the medical authorities.

But still???

The Apple Watch Ultra 2 has a new black color, accompanied by a new type of bracelet, titanium Milanese buckle, and new exclusive Hermès bracelets (with exclusive Hermès dial). The new case is available now, for deliveries starting September 20.

The Californian firm also recalled its ecological objectives and the fact that they are on track to be neutral in carbon emissions in 2030.
