iOS 14.7: beta 5 is available (developers)

A few hours ago, Apple released a fifth round of beta (for developers registered in the beta test program) foriOS 14.7, iPadOS 14.7, watchOS 7.6 and tvOS 14.7.

The launch of this new batch of test versions begins a little over a week after therelease of the fourth betaand a week laterthe release of a first public beta for iOS 15 and other new Apple OSseen at WWDC 2021.

Regarding iOS 14.7, iPadOS 14.7, watchOS 7.6 and tvOS 14.7., for the moment, here are the contributions that have been spotted, in addition to the classic bug fixes and security improvements:

  • Weather report: the app displays the air quality in France. The information is also available in the Plans app
  • HomePod: setting several timers simultaneously, which can also be done directly from the Home app, without using Siri or even the speaker
  • Wi-Fi:Fixed a bug that, depending on the SSID of a Wi-Fi network, could disable the Wi-Fi functionality of the iPhone or iPad.More details here

Note that it was also noticed that the iOS 14.7 beta 2 update caused a major bug on iPhone. Indeed, after installation, a SIM Failure error appeared among some testers, indicating that the SIM card could not be read. Thus, this involves stopping functions linked to the SIM card: telephone calls, cellular data and SMS.Only devices with eSIM seem to have been affected though. And even if it seems that the problem is no longer relevant with this beta 5, we advise as usual to avoid installing a beta version on a priority use device, such as your main iPhone.

In any case, if you spot other changes, bugs or features, don't hesitate to tell us in the comments!
