It's well and truly gone! The rumors
concerning iOS 9 are now regular and as often assured by Mark
Gurman, the specialist in this type of leak at 9to5Mac.
While we were able to mention
the possible deployment of a new fontin iOS and OS
X, it's the turn of an expected new feature concerning the mapping app
from Apple to be on the program.
So, while the rumors in this direction already date back several months and
had even been considered for iOS 8, Apple shouldintegrate the
public transportation to Maps in iOS 9.
The app would thus make it possible to offerguidance taking into account the
bus, metro or train lines, in addition to the current dedicated solution
to cars and pedestrians. The interface would be the one visible in this screenshot
screen:
Another addition: the app should integrate in addition to map views,
satellites and hybrids, a view showing the routes and stations for these
public transport. According to the site's sources, the function, which was almost
ready for iOS 8 would have been removed to give Apple time to extend the
coverage to a larger number of cities.
Note, Apple's acquisitions in the field of transportation
commun :
- Apple
buys “Embark”: to add public transport to iPhone Maps
and iPad? - HopStop :
new purchase of Apple in public transport
Apple would thus fill a void left when it abandoned cartography
from Google. We will have to see if this comes to fruition, what is the coverage in
term of cities and the quality of the data, but we can hope that this
will be there after the initial setbacks with the House Plan app.
Furthermore, Apple would continueses efforts
cartography to allow guidance in Plans within the same
buildings. For this, the company would have developed small compact robots
(resembling robot vacuum cleaners) capable of collecting data
allowing the drawing up of premises plans. They would already be at work on the
Apple campus in Cupertino. This function should not be launched with iOS
9.
