iOS updates can be activated automatically starting with iOS 12

The keynote of the
WWDC 2018 conference lasted 2h15, an event devoted entirely to
software announcements for iOS, watchOS, tvOS and macOS and which we have summarized
In
This item
. However, due to lack of time, Apple cannot
mention all the new features for all systems
operating.

For example, there arenew features specific to
l’iPhone X
, but also other features for all iPhones that
were not covered by Apple during the keynote, and in particular
one which concerns iOS updates.

In fact, by going into the applicationSettings, then
rendering in on "Software update", we can notice
the presence of a new function called "Updates
automatic
", which isdisabled by
default
.

Enabling this setting allows iPhone todownload the
next versions and automatically update iOS without intervention
the user
.

Automatic updates have been around for a while on macOS,
these are generally done at night when the device is not used by
its owner.

For minor updates, we imagine that there would be no
problems, however for updates as important, like iOS 13, the
system will probably ask the user to validate or not
installation given the extent of the changes.
