Apple reportedly sold 200,000 Vision Pro despite (already) falling demand

The Apple Vision Pro was not announced as a commercial success comparable to the iPhone or iPad. Despite these pessimistic forecasts, the product has managed to attract hundreds of thousands of people. According to the latest figures published by the Macrumors information site,Apple would have reached the 200,000 pre-order markfor its very first mixed reality headset.

This surprise success would have taken you by surpriseApple and its subcontractors. In fact, the product is due to arrive in American Apple Stores this Friday, but stocks are already at their lowest. There should only be a few devices per store and the physical sale will only last a few minutes.

Last week, financial analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, an Apple specialist, had already mentioned the success of pre-orders and the consequences of this on physical sales of the device.

The bulk of the demand has (already) passed?

But in his analysis published on Medium, Kuo goes even further. He noticed that the product's shipping dates had extended considerably during the first 48 hours of the pre-order. This is a fairly normal phenomenon with Apple, which has very little stock. The Apple brand is suffering the same setback with the release of a new iPhone.

But generally, demand is still strong enough to keep shipping dates well ahead of schedule. Kuo notes that this hasn't been the case for the Apple Vision Pro.Initial demand was very strong, but just a few hours later, it had already returned to a largely bearable level for Apple's supply chain.

This may give rise to fears that the Apple Vision Pro is not as interesting as it should be. The product won over “hard” Apple fans, those who follow keynotes to the letter and don't miss a product release, but the Vision Pro missed the mark when it came to the general public.
