THE
results of the preliminary European investigationlaunched in April
lastabout Apple's streaming deals
music just dropped. Brussels has not detected the existence of activities
illegal, but still decides to continue monitoring the sector.
Apple can therefore breathe, no follow-up will be given to the
investigations carried out with the largest record companies during these
recent months. The inspection aimed to prove the existence of illicit agreements
passed between the latter and the apple firm, which could have brought
harm to competition.
Spotify appears to be behind the complaint that sparked the investigation,
while it was highlighted that the Swedish music streaming service
was under pressure from record publishers to tend to
reduce the use of the free offer. Here too, no overwhelming evidence
Apple was not found.
Surveillance continues despite everything in Europe and the United States,
particularly concerning the Apple App Store, in order to control any
illegal activity regarding the management of streaming applications
competitors, while Apple still charges 30% tax on any purchase
made via the store (subscriptions
to competing streaming services included).
The battle for music streaming rages while survival is already there
complicated.The landing
d’Apple Musicin the field has not helped matters.
