Updated May 17, 2021 – 3 p.m.: an image tells us a little more. See the details in the article.

When you went to the Apple Music application this morning, you probably saw a rather mysterious insert. Indeed, a brand new promotional campaign, also broadcast in France and signed Apple, sets the tone:

FUTURE

Get ready… Music will never be the same.

At first glance, this message may seem quite mysterious. But everything suggests that it is in fact referring to a functionality already seen several rumors in advance. This onewould bring Hi-Fi quality to Apple Music sounds. To date, there are more than seventy-five million.

No price change?

At this time, no official details about this change have been communicated. However, previous leaks have already speculated thatthe option would be delivered at no extra cost to all users. Which is not the case at Tidal, Amazon or Deezer. The French service asks 14.99 euros per month for Hi-Fi compared to 9.99 euros per month without.

Today, Apple streaming packages start at 9.99 euros per month. But there is also a special rate dedicated to students, five euros cheaper. Families, for their part, can share a subscription for 14.99 euros monthly.

Note also that even if Apple Music is available on Android, it is possible that users of the Google OS will not take full advantage of it following this supposed update. Specific features linked to Dolby quality would therefore be absent during the deployment of the next version.

New clues

For its part, the American magazine9to5Mactook the time to analyze in detail the source code of the Apple Music app in web version. For once, its journalists found specific mentions likeLosslessetHi Res Lossless. You can see the expressions in question highlighted in the screenshot below:

If this is true, then you will however need to be equipped with the appropriate hardware: it is unlikely that a simple iPhone will support a such audio quality. On the other hand, the HomePod, for its part, seems ideally designed for.
