This is an addition that should please users ofApple Music. The platform is currently testing a feature that allows you to follow new releases from your favorite artists when they come outa new song, album, or music video.
Concretely, affected Apple Music users on iOS can see the announcement “see new music from the artists you like” on the home page. If you choose this option, you will then receive regular updates on them as well as notifications above your library.
Apple Music's algorithm used
Small downside however, it does not seem possible to specifically choose artists and we will therefore have to be content with the choice of the platform's algorithm. You can only choose to enable or disable this feature. For now,only a limited number of Apple Music users have access to this new option.
This new feature follows another unveiled this week and which is very welcome in these times of confinement. Apple Music now offers a newpersonalized playlistcalled “Energy” or “Get up” in English. This mix, composed only of rhythmic and happy songs, is supposed to give a little morale boost to users who really need it.
To prepare it, the algorithm is used. It combines a set of music that is supposed to please you with more classic hits. For Apple Music, it is also a way to react to competition from Spotify, regularly praised for the quality of its personalized playlists.
However, the platform does not give upto playlists selected by its teams. A few months ago Apple launched “New Music Daily» which is updated daily with new titles. The latter replaces the “Outings of the week” playlist, which was updated every Tuesday.
