Apple Music and streaming: 80% of music industry revenues

According to the latest report from the Recording Industry Association of America, revenues from streaming services reached nearly $4.3 billion during the last six months. An increase of 26% compared to the same period last year.

This growth is due to a massive influx of new users – on average 1 million per month over the past year – which helped reach 61.1 million paid subscriptions, up 30% compared to 2018. .

Apple's streaming solution continues to gain traction around the world, seemingly at the same pace as market leader Spotify. In June, Eddy Cue, Apple's senior vice president of Internet Software and Services, said thatApple Musichad reached the milestone of 60 million subscribers, a success for a product launched in 2015.

Spotify, however, remains the leader, with 108 million paid subscribers recorded in July 2018, an increase of 30% compared to the previous year. The Swedish platform can boast of having more than 232 million subscribers across all of its listening levels, whether paid or free subscriptions.
