At the end of June, the American site 9to5mac
reported that the iPhone 7would incorporate a fixed physical Home buttonwho would send a
haptic feedback to simulate the click sensation of iPhone Home buttons
current. This new Home button would use technology similar to the Force
Touch trackpads of the latest MacBooks.
According to a new report from the same site which cites sources close to
iPhone production lines in China, it would be a Home button
capacitive whichwould support 3D Touch, a technology
introduced by the iPhone 6s. The report also mentions anew
black colorfor the iPhone 7 which would be similar to the color of the Mac
Pro of 2013.
This new “Force Touch” version Home button would be aligned with the screen. This
new element coupled with the removal of the headphone jack would greatly help Apple to
improve the waterproofing of the iPhone 7, the first efforts of which we saw on
the iPhone 6s, and which is also suggested by anew feature in iOS 10.
Switching to a fixed Home button that is not mechanical should also
reduce the number of repairs due to a faulty Home button, because
according to repairers it is a component which often ends up no longer
operate under load.
