His attempt to find his car with an AirTag turns into a fiasco

But for Becca, this is unfortunately not what happened, her car was indeed stolen, but she had wisely placed an AirTag in it.
At first, the woman did not notify the police and decided to find her car herself.

Her Find My app showed her vehicle was almost 400 kilometers away in Kelowna. Once there, there is amazement: the car is not there.
The thieves had taken their precautions by searching the passenger compartment, and the most ingenious thing was that after getting their hands on the AirTag, they did not throw it away and took care to slip it into a car. self-service rental.

Becca Hislop eventually reported her vehicle stolen to Vancouver police, who quickly located it.

The AirTag involved in more and more news stories

Faced with these abuses, the Cupertino company has taken steps by adding a functionality which warns the user if an AirTag follows them without their consent. This functionality was later extended to Android users.
