Her Find My app showed her vehicle was almost 400 kilometers away in Kelowna. Once there, there is amazement: the car is not there.
The thieves had taken their precautions by searching the passenger compartment, and the most ingenious thing was that after getting their hands on the AirTag, they did not throw it away and took care to slip it into a car. self-service rental.

Becca Hislop eventually reported her vehicle stolen to Vancouver police, who quickly located it.

The AirTag involved in more and more news stories

It is increasingly common to see AirTags involved in news events. We remember, for example, the cyclist who was able to find his bike thanks to Apple's small tracker, or the repeat thieves who were able to be arrested by the police thanks to the latter's help.

However, the picture is not all rosy for Apple's little gadget. In fact, it is not uncommon to see people diverting its basic use. Some predators even use it to try to pursue women, many of whom have testified to having found AirTags that did not belong to them in their belongings.

Faced with these abuses, the Cupertino company has taken steps by adding a functionality which warns the user if an AirTag follows them without their consent. This functionality was later extended to Android users.
