Buyers of the new Magic Keyboard, an accessory for the fourth generation iPad Pro, realized when weighing the keyboard + tablet duo that it weighed…heavier than a MacBook Air, with 1,351 grams on the counter compared to 1,290 g for the PC. In reality, a 13″ MacBook Pro is closer to the combination, due to its weight (1,370 g) but also its thickness.
This conclusion recalls a now recurring question among consumers who choose Apple, particularly since the company began releasing new products almost every month. How can we differentiate between the different models and generations, as the company has diversified its presence on the electronics market? With renewals now less than every twelve months, the question arises.
Which references are confusing?
In addition to the iPad Pro and its Magic Keyboard which Apple officially describes as a “computer”, certain similar criteria are found in:
- the iPad “Air” and iPad Pro for those looking for a compact tablet, the first being thick6.1mm versus 5.9for the second, with also only 15 g difference between the two (although the Pro is more powerful and has a better photo module and a different case),
- the MacBook “Air” and the MacBook in short, also with a more compact format on the 2015 version, a problem since resolved by the cessation of its production (but a new model would arrive soon, according to rumors)
- the most affordable iPhones:iPhone XR vs iPhone SE, or eveniPhone SE vs iPhone 8or 8 Plus,
- the Pro Display XDR + Mac mini assembly and some iMacs,
- the future AirPods headset, a direct competitor toBeatscompatible with Siri
- and finally, we note that the 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro Max will have a screen almost as large as that of the iPad mini (7.9″) for streaming.
Obviously, you just need to look at the technical data sheets of the devices concerned to see things more clearly, useful advice for newbies. And you, what would be your choices among this array?
