Apple TV+: several series renewed for a 2nd season

Apple TV+, Apple's new streaming video service, has been available for a week, but the Californian firm wants to keep the machine running and produce more content to enrich its meager catalog.

According to the Variety website, the following series have been renewed for a second season. Namely, See, Dickinson, For All Mankind and The Morning Show. For the latter, from the start Apple had signed for a minimum of two seasons, but the renewal of the other series is new.

The specialized press gave a mixed reception to Apple's new original series, but it seems that the latter are doing much better with the public.

For example on the Rotten Tomatoes site, for the post-apocalyptic seriesSee, the press rating is 41%, but that of spectators is more than double with 83%. The same goes for the series The Morning Show.

Apple has not given figures on the number of views and subscriptions to Apple TV+, but Variety sources “close” to Apple mention “million users“.

We imagine that a majority of these “subscribers” are in fact users like us, who take advantage of the year offered for any purchase (after September 10) of an Apple TV, an iPhone, an iPhone , an iPod touch or a Mac.

For any other user, Apple offers a 7-day free trial, before subscribing to a subscription of €4.99 per month or €49.99 per year. A sum certainly not high, but which is not yet justified with the current state of Apple's catalog of original content.

Given that Apple TV+ offers a much smaller catalog than its main competitors, Apple must ensure that it has new content to offer quickly, hence the need to start production of a second season fairly early for its series.
