Every year at the same time, the American Film Institute presents its AFI Awards. These film awards are a bit different from other types of awards given out in Hollywood. Indeed, they are focused on the collaborative nature of cinema and series, and reward the work of all creative teams, in other words those in front of and behind the camera.
Two remarkable series on Apple TV+
This year, Apple TV+ seriesSeverancea Pachinkowere rightly rewarded by this organization. The streaming platform welcomed this decision, especially since the AFI has already welcomed other programs on the service in the past. So,Wolfwalkersreceived the audience award in the “Narrative Feature” category, while Ted Lasso won the award for best comedy.
As a reminder,Severanceis an atypical series that is worth the detour. We follow the adventures of Mark Scout, employee of Lumon Industries, a Tech company which works on very confidential projects. They are so sensitive that each employee must undergo surgery to separate memories linked to their private and professional lives.
For his part,Pachinkochronicles the hopes and dreams of a Korean immigrant family spanning four generations. In this first season, we are plunged into the heart of the 90s through the vision of a mother named Sunja.
Apple TV+ is stacking up the awards.
Note that Apple TV+ series are particularly notable at the end of the year. Last week, we already talked to you aboutthese six series of the platformnominated for the Critics Choice Awards:Bad Sisters, Pachinko, Tehran, Severance, Black Bird, and The Last Days of Ptolemy Gray.
