Apple TV+ et les Daytime Emmy Awards

This weekend took place the Daytime Emmy Awards (as opposed to the Primetime Emmy Awards which will take place in September). During the event, Apple was rewarded several times. The cartoonStillwaternotably received two Emmy Awards. To which is added that received byHere We Are: Notes For Living on Planet Earth.

New record at the Emmy Awards

And indeed, let's come to the Primetime Emmy Awards, for which the seriesTed Lasso, yes, she again, collected less than 20 nominations in 11 categories, including that of best actor for Jason Sudeikis, the actor playing the coach in the series, but also that of best actress in a supporting role for Hannah Waddingham and Juno Temple, and that of thebest comedy series. These 20 nominations for the same series allow Apple to beat the historic record established by the series Glee produced by Fox and which had 19 nominations in 2010.

Mythic Quest, another flagship Apple TV+ series, was also nominated for best audio. Here are other nominated content from the Apple platform:

  • Central Park: best dubbing
  • Bruce Springsteen’s “Letter to You”: better sound
  • Billie Eilish: The World’s a Little Blurry: better sound and better editing
  • Servant
  • Boys State
  • Carpool Karaoke: The Series

Without forgetting various Apple ads, noticed in the categoryOutstanding Commercial, including this one:

This makes a total of34 nominations, double the count for 2020, the first year of existence of the Apple TV+ service.

Moreover, Apple is very proud of this figure, to the point of taking advantage of it to promote its service to Apple hardware users via notification:

Ted Lasso season 2 is scheduled for astart of broadcast on July 23coming soon to Apple TV+. Some have already been able to preview the new episodes, including Apple CEO Tim Cook, as part of a special screening which took place a few days ago in Los Angeles.

We have also seen that sheseems to satisfy all expectations, and even much more. A third season is already planned.

If many analysts saw the See series as the flagship content of the Apple platform, it seems that Ted Lasso has succeeded in taking this position brilliantly. And Apple continues to promote the series, as evidenced by these stickers distributed in certain Apple Stores.

Apple is preparing the future of Apple TV+

Apple recently announced that it had signed a partnership with the production company Hyperobject Industries, created by Adam McKay. If the latter produces a lot of series, the alliance with Apple should result in the production of exclusive films for the Apple streaming platform. Hyperobject Industries is notably at the origin of films likeVice,The Big Short, or evenStep Brothers.

Otherwise, and still to strengthen its catalog, the Californian firm would be ready to get its hands on the production company A24, which has already produced the films for Apple TV+Mr. CormanetOn The Rocksnotably. A24 would ask between 2.5 and 3 billion dollars for its buyout. Apple would not be the only potential buyer of course. In any case, the negotiations are expected to last for some time.
