Apple has just published a big white letter regarding its product repair policy. In order to be ever closer to its ecological values, the Apple brand conceives in this document that it will make several efforts to make its devices, notably the iPhone, more repairable in the future.
According to Apple, third-party screens and batteries, which are currently not welcome in iPhones, could arrive before the end of the year without the user feeling any difference. The Cupertino company explains that theTrue Tone functionalityin particular should be available on third-party screens before the start of next year. As a reminder, this software option allows you to automatically adapt the color of the screen to match the light in your environment.
Third-party batteries: the big winners?
In its document, Apple insisted on third-party batteries and their role. For the moment, they cannot function as batteries certified by Apple, the number of cycles is not visible, in the same way asbattery status(which allows you to know whether it needs to be changed soon or not).
Apple specifies that this information will be available for users of third-party batteries, but the Apple brand will at the same time display a message to absolve itself of any responsibility. Indeed, she explains that an internal investigation revealed that third-party batteries sold at low cost as new were in reality second-hand products of poor quality.
Apple cannot verify this information once the battery is installed in the device, so it must trust the battery manufacturers. A crucial notion, which it will not fail to clarify in the settings of the iPhone in the future.
