Apple has just released a new beta version of the iOS 17.4 update, scheduled for early March. While much of this update should focus oncompliance of Apple and its services with the DMA,the new European law on digital anti-competitive practices.
Apple is also planning to make some changes to its iPhone that will affect the whole world. This will particularly be the case for the battery settings of the iPhone 15, if we are to believe the new configuration of this screen in the latest beta version of iOS 17.4.
So in the new version of this parameter, visible in the “battery” section of the “settings” application, it is possible to knowbattery status. Apple displays this data with less precision by simply giving a “normal” qualifier on the state of health of the battery.
By clicking on this new data, it will be possible to find out more about the state of health of the battery. Apple plays the transparency card by displaying in particular the date of manufacture of the battery as well as the first use of the latter. the number of charging cycles (complete or not) are also counted in the iPhone battery settings.
An exclusive feature
For the moment this new functionality has only arrived on the betas of the iPhone 15s and it will be interesting to follow in a few weeks the deployment to the general public of the update to see if this small modification of the settings of the iPhone battery affect other smartphone models.
Still regarding the health of an iPhone's battery, Apple suggests that its users use “intelligent charging”. It is also recommended to limit the battery charge to 80% to avoid “stressing” the battery and thus extend its lifespan over time.
