Apple Vision Pro: surprise success, forecasts explode!

When Apple introduced its Vision Pro headset in 2023, some observers were skeptical. Indeed, apart from the fact that this is a whole new category for the firm's clients, theVision Prois also very expensive. But after launching pre-orders for the Vision Pro this January, Apple proved the skeptics wrong.

On January 22, analyst Ming Chi Kuo already announced a stock shortage, after the opening of pre-orders. He also estimated that Apple has already recorded between 160,000 and 180,000 pre-orders after the first weekend. And obviously, the Vision Pro headset should continue to sell well after this pre-order period.

In any case, this is what is suggested by a Wedbush analyst, Dan Ives, according to an article from Business Insider. Indeed, Ives revised his forecasts for Apple's Vision Pro. Previously, he estimated that Apple could sell 460,000 units in 2024. But now, the Wedbush analyst is convinced that the firm can sell up to 600,000 units this year. In addition, he believes that in 2025, 1 million Vision Pros could be sold.

It's just the beginning

For a brand new product, and considering the price of $3,499, these numbers are impressive. However, this is only the beginning. Indeed, rumors are already circulating about a more affordable version through which Apple should make spatial computing (or AR/VR) more accessible. According to the Wedbush analyst, the upcoming headset is expected to be priced below $2,000.

The arrival of the Vision Pro is also good news for other players in this market. Indeed, the arrival of this new Apple product will increase the general public's interest in this category. For example, rumors suggest that Meta, Mark Zuckerberg's company, would view the arrival of competition from Apple very favorably. Indeed, it would be a form of validation.

Otherwise, it should be remembered that for its part, Samsung is also developing its own augmented reality headset. We don't yet know when this will be revealed. But the Korean giant has already formalized the project, and indicated that itworks with Google and Qualcomm.
