Apple Watch Series 5: battery life not up to par according to some users?

The flagship new feature of the Apple Watch Series 5 is its always-on screen, which allows viewing at any time and without having to lift your wrist.

Apple claims that the Apple Watch Series 5 can offer such functionality while offering the same battery life as the Series 4. But after a first weekend of testing for new Apple Watch Series 5 users, a number claim that the autonomy is disappointing.

Apple Watch Series 5 users claim on Twitter that with normal use, the battery life is lower than their previous Series 4, although it should be the same according to Apple.

According to a survey on the American site 9to5mac, 53% of Apple Watch 5 voters and users report less battery life than expected.

It is possible to deactivate the “always on” function of the screen to gain a few more hours of battery life (around 2-3 hours), which can be useful in certain situations. But as a result, this model is much less interesting to use without this main new feature.

It is possible that the culprit is a bug in watchOS 6, because some Apple Watch Series 4 users are reporting battery life issues since switching to watchOS 6.

If a software bug is in question, we imagine that Apple should quickly correct it in the next watchOS 6.1 update. In the meantime, the next update should be iOS 13.1 and iPadOS, two versions which will arrive this Tuesday, September 24 at 7 p.m.
