Apple Watch Series 6: a more powerful chip, better waterproofing and wireless connection

Usually, each new generation of Apple Watch features a more powerful chip than the previous one, but that was not the case this year for the Apple Watch Series 5 which offers the same performance as the previous model.

According to the very reliable analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the next Apple Watch Series 6 would offer improved performance, better waterproofing and a faster wireless connection.

The S5 chip in Series 5 offers the same performance as the S4 chip in Series 4, but this will not be the case with the SX chip in the next generation of Apple Watch. This should allow the Series 6 to be more efficient and responsive, even if the last two generations are already satisfactory on this point.

The analyst also believes that Apple will improve the speed of wireless connections in Wi-Fi and cellular, to allow faster data exchange. We imagine that Apple would move from WiFi 4 in current watches to WiFi 6 (the new standard) in the Apple Watch Series 6.

Ming-Chi Kuo also mentions an improvement in waterproofing for the Apple Watch 6. The Apple Watch offers water resistance up to 50 meters since the Series 2 for shallow water activities such as swimming in a pool or in a pool. open water.

The analyst's report suggests that the Series 6 could be used for aquatic activities involving fast currents or deep immersion. For example, water skiing or scuba diving, sports not recommended by Apple with current models.

At the same time, the Apple Watch Series 6 could also integrate other new features, such as a sleep tracking app or a new MicroLED screen.
