Practical ! How the Mac could charge a wireless keyboard or mouse

As on iPhone, with the disappearance of the Jack socket, Apple seems to wantcut the thread on Mac. At least, she studies thepossibility of no longer needing cables or batteries for desktop Mac keyboards and mice. A new patent recently filed by the Californian firm protects a technology ofshort distance battery charging. Apple would consider using it on iMac, to send power to nearby wireless devices:

It is this configuration that is demonstrated in the technical paper. We can indeed see an illustration of the detailed technology, a sort of iMac with on the back, two chargers integrated into the bottom of the shell.

These could send current to compatible devices located nearby, less than approximately 30 cm. The two power transmitters would also operate in such a way that the user is not targeted by the waves. A beam angle would only cover the surroundings of the Mac.

This technology could be useful for, for example, supplying energy to a wireless keyboard such as the Apple Magic Keyboard and a Magic Mouse.

But we could also imagine chargers capable of recharging any device placed nearby, iPhone, portable battery, AirPods, etc.

Obviously, as with any patent filing, there is no indication that this technology will ever be integrated into a consumer product. But we can still see this desire from Appleto consider more and more wireless connections, even for the problem of recharging peripherals on fixed workstations.
