When Apple announced the arrival of Lossless mode at no extra cost on Music (price: 9.99 euros per month or 14.99 euros per month for six), no one knew if it would be supported by the HomePod. The manufacturer was finally able to clarify the situation some time later, explaining that a simple software update should answer the question by bringing Hi-Fi quality to the speaker. And today, it is finally possible to take advantage of it.
For the moment, however, the only possibility to do this is to use AirPlay, via a Wi-Fi connection. Indeed, the HomePod does not yet natively offer Lossless Audio. We do not know exactly when it will be eligible, but it is very likely that the next version of its operating system will be deployed within a few days. The Worldwide Developer Conference in June 2021,the summary of which can be found at this address, already announced the color.

Coming soon to AirPods Max?
Aside from the HomePod and the HomePod mini, we do not currently know if other Apple devices will also be entitled to Lossless Audio mode. We can only assume that the AirPods Max wireless headphones, which are the most high-end in its collection, could be eligible to play this type of files. Indeed, exceeding 600 euros, it is perhaps equipped with the components necessary for this service but no one has been able to verify this at the moment. A recent product update, the content of which is unknown at this time, could also change the situation. We can bet that future in-depth tests of the device will confirm this hypothesis or not.
