After Lewis Hamilton, Lionel Messi also has the right to his series on Apple TV+

Lionel Messi has barely had time to settle down in the United States when Apple has already announced a documentary series about him. The Argentine football player, former glory of FC Barcelona and Paris Saint Germain, has just signed up with Inter Miami, David Beckham's club.

The signing of this global star was made under numerous conditions, including several with Apple directly. The American company already hasMLS broadcast rights, the local championship where Messi will play in a few months.

Messi and Apple: the story grows

The Argentinian thus negotiated a percentage of the revenue generated by Apple over the coming seasons. A link between the apple and the attacker which does not stop there. A four-part documentary is also said to be in the pipeline. The report would also have been largely filmed during the year 2022, notably with Messi's victory at the World Cup last winter.

According to Apple, the documentary will largely focus on this last edition of the World Cup, won by Argentina. The production of this documentary, whose name still remains secret, was entrusted to Tim Pastore, already awarded an Emmy Award for his work on “Free Solo” and “Jane”.

An intimate and unique documentary

Like recent sports documentary series like The Last Dance on Michael Jordan, this series is also an opportunity for Apple to capture rare speeches from Lionel Messi both on and off the field. This series of episodes on the seven-time Golden Ball should be broadcast in the coming weeks without Apple giving a precise schedule for the time being.

In addition to this production on Lionel Messi, Apple is increasingly investing in the world of sport and is notably preparing a documentary onFormula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton.
