iPhone 11 loses 40 minutes of battery life under iOS 13.3.1 (video)

Apple releases iOS 13.3.1 updatesince January 28. The changes made (listed here) by this new version are not major. There is also one that has been hitherto unsuspected: a significant reduction in autonomy.

In any case, this is what many users are complaining about. We are also launching a survey on Saturdayto find out if among you, readers, there are also users affected by truncated autonomy since update 13.3.1. The poll is still in progress on Twitter, you can vote until tomorrow.

Have you updated iOS 13.3.1? How has your autonomy behaved since the update?#survey #ios1331 #ios

Please note that at this stage, out of more than 660 votes, 39% of you noticed a drop in autonomy, 54% felt no change and 7% noted an increase in autonomy.

Which iPhone models are affected?

To investigate this subject of reduced autonomy in more depth, YouTuber iAppleBytes carried out two video comparisons with several iPhone models. Its measurements were taken using the Geekbench app battery test under iOS 13.3.1 (available here on the App Store), a first time just after installing the update, and a second time, a week later.

Here is the test done immediately after updating to iOS 13.3.1 :

And the test carried out one week after the update:

At the end of each video, the YouTube video shows the numbers under iOS 13.3.1 and compares them with the numbers obtained in the past with iOS 13. Below are the detailed results:

iPhone SE

  • Sous iOS 13.3 : 3h05
  • Sous iOS 13.3.1, test 1 : 3h07
  • Under iOS 13.3.1, test 2: 3h03 (-3 minutes compared to iOS 13.3)

iPhone 6s

  • Sous iOS 13.3 : 3h22
  • Sous iOS 13.3.1, test 1 : 3h19
  • Under iOS 13.3.1, test 2: 3h20 (-2 minutes compared to iOS 13.3)

iPhone 7

  • Sous iOS 13.3 : 3h53
  • Sous iOS 13.3.1, test 1 : 3h45
  • Under iOS 13.3.1, test 2: 3h42 (-11 minutes compared to iOS 13.3)

iPhone 8

  • Sous iOS 13.3 : 3h43
  • Sous iOS 13.3.1, test 1 : 3h32
  • Under iOS 13.3.1, test 2: 3h27 (-16 minutes compared to iOS 13.3)

iPhone XR

  • Sous iOS 13.3 : 6h17
  • Sous iOS 13.3.1, test 1 : 6h06
  • Under iOS 13.3.1, test 2: 6h04 (-13 minutes compared to iOS 13.3)

iPhone 11

  • Sous iOS 13.3 : 7h04
  • Sous iOS 13.3.1, test 1 : 6h56
  • Under iOS 13.3.1, test 2: 6h19 (-45 minutes compared to iOS 13.3)

The iPhone 11: the only one impacted

The figures show relatively insignificant changes in autonomy for all the iPhones tested (16 minutes maximum less, for the iPhone 8), with the exception of the 11 model. The latter in fact displays a drop in45 minutesautonomy between iOS 13.3 and the second test under iOS 13.3.1.

So, if you own an iPhone 11, it is better to avoid version 13.3.1 of iOS. Apple should probably correct the situation with a future update of its mobile operating system.

Who among you has noticed a drop in battery life on iPhone 11 since the transition to iOS 13.3.1?
