Our iPhone battery capacity could reach the stars

TDK, a subcontractor which is responsible in particular for supplying Apple with batteriesses iPhoneand itsconnected watches, has just created batteries that are more powerful than ever. These are capable of carrying up to a hundred times more energy than previously, according to the official press release. It was enough for the specialized press to take up the matter, ensuring that Cupertino could take inspiration from it to significantly increase the autonomy of our mobiles.

Today, the official technical sheet of the best equipped iPhones in this area displays up totwenty-nine hours of battery life. But of course, it's only on paper. In fact, it is not uncommon to have to plug in your mobile at least once a day to stock up on energy. Obtaining more endurance would therefore be welcome, but we will still have to be patient. And for good reason: the new technology unveiled by TDK may not see the light of day under the hood of mainstream smartphones for many years to come...

Other devices in the loop

TDK's explanations also mention the case of wearables, in other words accessories likewireless earphonesor connected bracelets. So many devices which, indeed, are also criticized because they still need to be recharged perhaps too regularly by their users.

TDK also explains thathearing aidscould benefit from its new battery. Better yet: with this system, we could benefit from an ideal alternative to button batteries, whose lifespan is currently limited. This type of battery equips in particular theAirTags, Bluetooth beacons that allow you to find lost belongings. Apple has been selling them in its stores since 2021.

Will our iPhone batteries be safer?

Finally, note that TDK also considers its new batteries to be particularly safe, in other words the kind of advantage required by airlines as well as certification bodies such as the FCC in the United States. What's more, the technology developed by the brand would also save space under the chassis, as with the periscopic lens of certain smartphones. But the question of price remains unanswered, and in the future, all this could well cost us even more than today...

  • TDK has just unveiled batteries that are more durable than ever
  • Ultimately, we could therefore benefit from better autonomy on iPhone
