This is a study that sounds like a wake-up call for all parents. In research published in the journalComputers in Human Behavior, American researchers focused on the impact of time spent on screens by young children. This concerns in particular tablets and among them iPads, but of course all competing models.
In detail, this survey included 269 participants who had dependent children. They were particularly questioned about their problematic use of screens, in other words addictive behavior towards devices: smartphones, televisions, tablets, computers, etc.
Adopt good reflexes
This study is quite serious, because it followed the toddlers over three years from 2.5 years to 5.5 years. The findings suggest that children who spend too much time in front of these screens have difficulty managing their emotions. This is the case with aggressiveness, but also with various problems in social relationships.
Quoted byPsyPost, Sarah M. Coyne, professor of human development at Brigham Young University and lead author of the study, emphasizes:
I have been studying problematic media use in adolescence for a number of years and wanted to see if the roots were in early childhood. It would be wonderful if we could intervene when children are young to prevent serious problems with media later in life.
Faced with these risks, parents must therefore adopt the right reflexes. In particular, we must try to detect addictive behavior towards these devices from an early age. Apple has also developed a toolScreen timeon iPhone and iPad. As its name suggests, it allows you to limit the time spent on an iOS device, especially for children. We will give you the instructions to followin this article.
