For the first time in France: more iPhone/iPod docking stations are sold than HI-FI systems

The Echoesrelays a study signed GFK which shows us that Apple is shaking up
also the audio equipment market.

Indeed, it emerges from this study thatdocking stations for
iPhone/iPod sold in greater numbers than HI-FI systems
traditionalover the first 7 months of the year.

A first according to GFK:

Thanks to the success over several years of its iDevice, iPhone/iPod, Apple
is also taking over the HI-FI market in our living rooms.

Indeed, on the first 7 of the year, for357,000 channels
HI-FItraditional sold,375 000 stations
welcomefor iPhone/iPod have found takers.

To top it all off, we can also see that HI-FI systems
named "Docking chains", that's to saycapable
to accommodate Apple iDevices, represent40% of
salesof HI-FI systems, also a growth of 40% than this
either in volume or in value.

THEchains not offering these possibilities saw their sales
decrease by 14% in volume and 18% in value.

The major hi-fi brands thus join the long list of
accessories manufacturers for iPhone and iPod, which is very beneficial for Apple since
the Cupertino company receives royalties on each accessory with the label
"compatible iPhone/iPod".

This market is even doubly profitable for Apple, since buyers of
these HI-FI systems will be tempted to buy Apple iDevices compatible with
their salon equipment in the future.

Finally, still according to Les Échos, audio equipment compatible with the
systemAirPlay d’Appleare from
more and more numerous and will therefore be a new source of income for
Apple without taking into account that the Cupertino company would consider putting its
technology on licensed photo and video streams.

Apple therefore multiplies the strings to its bow without forgetting theApple TVand theiPad 2who sits in the living room.
