EDIT: this bug has been fixedwith iOS 13.4.1 released last night.
A little over a week ago, Apple put onlineversion 13.4 of its operating system foriPhone. If it is accessible to everyone, it is because several beta iterations passed through the hands of the developers before the general public could benefit from it. A proven method for identifying most technical issues and then marketing the most stable iteration possible.
Despite everything, everything suggests that the applicationFaceTimehas experienced a serious technical problem since the installation of this OS, among many customers. An incident which would also affect the most recent official version ofCatalina.
Thoughtful decision or simple mistake?
In fact, devicesAppleare now unable to make phone calls or receive FaceTime calls from iPhones runningiOS 10or later. The models affected are as follows:
- iPad 2
- Third generation iPad
- iPhone 4S
- iPad mini (first of the name)
- iPod Touch (5e gen.)
@AppleSupport @AppleI need to submit a bug report regarding FaceTime connectivity and have it escalated to engineering. FaceTime Audio and Video calls are not connecting between devices currently running iOS 13.4 and older devices running iOS 9.3.5/9.3.6.

Apple has unfortunately not communicatedno fixat the moment, and there is no indication whetherthe iOS 13.4.5 developer beta released yesterdayprovides a solution to this flaw. If, however, you absolutely need to communicate with someone who only uses FaceTime, then you can always offer them one of the following alternatives:
- Whereby, a site allowing you to launch a video conference with several people (up to 4 people for free) from a browser and without installing any software
- Telegram, a clone of WhatsApp with more features and above all much more secure
- Slack, if your company is equipped
We do not recommend choosing Zoom,pinned for not having encrypted its users' communications. If Apple releases a patch, we will share it here to keep you updated.
