A few days ago, the Île-de-France Mobilités organizationannounced his plan in two stagesconcerning the shift towards digital for transport tickets for the public transport network in the Île-de-France region: first the recharging of the Navigo pass from the iPhone, then the scanning of transport tickets on the iPhone directly.
The first stage initially announced for an arrival on January 20 was implemented a few days in advance, therefore, since the update of the Vianavigo app a few hours ago.
The official app, now calledÎle-de-France Mobilities, therefore allows, in its latest version 7.0.0, to recharge a Navigo pass by placing it on the back of the iPhone.
Which iPhones are compatible?
The functionality is currently supported by the following iPhones, provided that they run underiOS 13 or later:
- iPhone 7 and 7 Plus
- iPhone 8 and 8 Plus
- iPhone X
- iPhone 11
- iPhone 11 Pro et 11 Pro Max
- iPhone 12 and 12 mini
- iPhone 12 Pro et 12 Pro Max
- iPhone SE (2020)
iPhone XS, XS Max and XR are not currently compatible. They will be in the future, according to the App Store sheet for the Île-de-France Mobilités app.
To start the Navigo pass recharge procedure with an iPhone, follow the following steps:
- Go to the Île-de-France Mobilités application, “Purchase” tab
- Place the pass on the back of the iPhone
- A “Ready to Scan” window appears with a vibration, which indicates that the pass is detected and ready to be reloaded
- Follow the on-screen steps to top up and pay for it

It works with a cardNavigo, but also with the mapI navigate Easy, which therefore allows you to purchase single tickets contained on the card without a subscription, all of this can now be done from an iPhone.
