How YouTube can come to the Apple Vision Pro very soon

A developer imagined an app carryingYouTubeon visionOS, the operating system for the Apple Vision Pro mixed reality headset. It was Christian Selig who had the idea, the latter being already at the origin of the successful Reddit clientApollo. A solution already downloaded more than 170,000 times, and particularly well rated on the App Store with an average of 4.8/5.

For the moment, however, we do not yet know when this new app will be available. And for good reason: the publisher explains that it has just submitted it for validation, with Apple then having to validate or not the deployment on its App Store. As a reminder, the latter is therefore available within visionOS with already numerous alternatives for streaming such as Disney+ or Apple TV+. Netflix, for its part, has assured that it has no interest in creating an alternative for the Vision Pro – for the moment.

Why doesn't YouTube offer an app on visionOS?

Jessica Gibby, spokesperson for YouTube, has already explained that YouTube can be easily opened from the Safari browser within visionOS. This seems to explain why, to date, no native app is available on the mixed reality headset. To find out more, please note that details about this have beensharedby our English-speaking colleagues fromThe Verge.

YouTube is today the undisputed world leader in streaming, even if paid offers remain more popular among specialists in the field such as Netflix or Disney+. Ina recent study, we learned that the Mountain View video library ranks number one on all continents, even if these statistics must of course be considered with caution.

Vision Pro: a rather off-putting price today

The price remains unknown regarding the European market, moreover the release date is also unknown, whether for France or its neighbors.

Officially, the Vision Pro is available starting tomorrow. But pre-orders have already arrived for certain users, moreover the videographer MKBHDtook the time to present us with a proper unboxingof the device.
