BlueSky decentralized Twitter reaches a milestone!

Decentralized social networks continue their rise. Fromthe takeover of Twitter by Elon Musk in 2022, many alternatives have emerged, for various reasons. Meta, for example, launched Threads, which aims to be an alternative to X, less toxic and where political debate is avoided.

Among the other alternatives that have been talked about, we find Bluesky,a decentralized platform created under the impetusofJack Dorsey, the former boss of Twitter.Launched less than a year ago, this independent social network based on the AT protocol continues to grow. Initially reserved for users with an invitation, it gradually opened up to the general public with functionalities and a design similar to Twitter.

Explosive post-election growth

The platform has just crossed the milestone of 15 million active users. This meteoric progression can be explained in particular by the massive influx of Americans following the last presidential elections.

In the space of a week, nearly a million new accounts were created. This migration to Bluesky demonstrates a desire among users to move away from the political controversies that agitate X.

A success which is confirmed on iOS

The Bluesky app now ranks first in the App Store for free apps in the United States. It has overtaken very popular applications like Threads and ChatGPT. Its success is based in particular on its approach to content moderation. Users have effective tools to combat online toxicity, such as the ability to detach their publications when they are cited or even customizable notification filters.

Bluesky is gradually establishing itself as a credible alternative to X and Threads. Its decentralized AT protocol offers usersgreater autonomy in the management of their content and interactions.
