iOS 12.1 beta enables dual SIM functionality of iPhone XS/XS Max

The iPhone Xs, Xs Max and XR are the first Apple smartphones to integrate the functionalitydouble SIM. This allows you to benefit from two different mobile plans, on the same device.

Apple had promised that this feature would be activated by the end of the year for new iPhones. We didn't have to wait very long, because thefirst beta of iOS 12.1 activates this Dual SIM function.

For new iPhones sold in France and in most countries around the world, dual SIM comes witha nano-SIM card and an eSIM.

eSIM is a technology used by Apple, which allows you to activate a mobile plan with an operator. And this without having to use a physical nano-SIM card.

A user can activate a second mobile plan with the eSim in three different ways. It can scan the QR code sent by the operator, use the operator's iPhone app, or manually enter the information.

At the moment, globally, there are still very few operators that support this technology. In France, no operator supports eSIM for smartphones. However, integration into the latest iPhones should accelerate adoption by operators.

Orange and SFR have already announced the upcoming support for dual SIM in the new iPhones, but radio silence from Bouygues Telecom and Free Mobile.

Do you plan to use this feature when it becomes available?
