After iOS 12, version 12.1 is available in public beta testing: new features and indiscretions (iPad pro)

Update September 20: After yesterday's release for devs, the public iOS 12.1 beta 1 version is available, butbe careful if you ordered an iPhone XS/XS max!

A few days laterthe public release of iOS 12, Apple has just publishedto beta d'iOS 12.1, as well aswatchOS 5.0.1. This is initially availableonly for developers, is now also available for “public” beta testers. It offers new features such as the return of group Facetime removed from iOS 12, but that's not all!

The iOS 12.1 beta files offer some interesting details, which suggestnew iPad Pros comingshortly. Some code in the beta refers, among other things, toFace ID support in landscape mode.

Landscape mode support for Face ID is probably intended for new iPad Pros. These new machines could see the light of day during a new Apple event next month, dedicated to the MacBook and the iPad Pro.

Several lines of code in iOS 12.1 suggest the arrival of a new feature, probably designed for the new iPad Pros. Namely, thesynchronisation via iCloud des Memoji, a feature that makes sense with new iPad Pros equipped with Face ID.

The next iPad Pros should abandon the Home button and Touch ID, switching to facial recognition. The arrival of new gestures for iPad Pro in iOS 12, as well as the new position of the time on the left of the screen also argue for the arrival of new iPad Pros with Face ID.

According toa recent reportfrom the very reliable analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, the next iPad Pros would also abandon the Lightning connection for USB-C. He also mentions that Apple would add a new, more powerful charger.

Finally regarding watchOS 5.1, it appears that theGroup FaceTime calls are back. With the possibility of being able to answer such a call from the watch, invoice mode only.
