- A designer imagined an animated Dock for macOS
- Here widgets are included in this menu
- In particular, you can control your music or develop key shortcuts to certain apps.
On June 5, Apple organizes its usualWorldwide Developer Conferencein Cupertino. The opportunity for us to discover, during the event, the brand new version of macOS in images. For the moment, however, it is impossible to know precisely what its content will be. ButAndreas Storm, via his Dribbble account, offers us a small overview of what he thinks could improve users' experience with the Dock.
On Mac, the Desktop Dock is “a convenient place to access apps and features you probably use every day“, according to Apple. In fact, we can compare it to the taskbar on Windows: this is where we store the icons that redirect us to the software that we use most, to have access to it at any time ( the interface overlays the rest of the operating system). Storm, for its part, offers to add widgets, including one that allows you to control the music player. Judge for yourself, the result is striking and clearly has something to overshadow theTouch Barof certain MacBook Pros:
Will we see a dynamic dock soon?

The smart battery is back!
Like on iOS 14, Andreas Storm even imagined how we could bring together several widgets in a single location in the dock with a semblance ofintelligent batteries. You could then also consult the day's weather in your city or display a YouTube search bar with some shortcuts associated with the streaming platform.
However, these ideas do not seem new, note for example this other model from the Dribbble account ofSviatoslav Didukhand just as successful:

All your notifications in the Dock!
To go further, another creator namedJanus Trivediincludes additional links in the Dock. The Messages app icon, for example, expands when hovered over it to reveal two shortcuts to current conversations, with each person's profile photo displayed. And for Safari, a counter indicating the percentage of file downloads is displayed, while Apple Music also offers playback controls.
Would you like to see such improvements on your Mac, or even on youriPad? And what new features are you most looking forward to at WWDC in June?
What if the macOS dock and its icons were more dynamic and fluid?
Made a little demo that shows message previews, live music, download progress, and more.
Pretty happy with how this turned out!pic.twitter.com/YpzrWU5klA
