After havingtested the cheese grater aspectof the new Mac Pro, the iFixit teams have, as usual, completely dismantled the new Apple product.
Usually Apple products get a poor repairability score, but the new Mac Pro has a modular design, which makes it easy to replace components and upgrade the machine.
iFixit has just published the Mac Pro teardown report, and calls the new Mac Pro “marvel of repairability” and awarded it a score of 9/10, the highest score ever achieved by an Apple product. they also explain why the machine doesn't get a perfect score.
The procedure for opening the machine couldn't be simpler. Basic repairs and improvements can be done with standard tools or even without tools.

Almost all components can be replaced by the user, apart from the SSD hard drive equipped with the T2 security chip, which requires going through an Apple Store or an authorized repairer. However, it is possible to easily increase the capacity by adding MPX modules.
As a reminder, Apple's T2 chip is a kind of coprocessor which is used to carry out certain operations, in particular the encryption of SSD data.
Apple provides documents and diagrams with the machine for repairs and component replacements. The Cupertino company also publishes free repair manuals online so that the user can carry out repairs themselves.

In summary, the new Mac Pro and its modular design keeps its promises in terms of repairs and the possibility of upgrading the machine for many years with new, more efficient components.
