Dynamic Island: up to two “Live Activities” at the same time

Certainly, theDynamic IslandiPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max continue to make headlines. While we recently learned that this replacement for the notch made it possible to better manage personalized app icons, today these are theLive Activitieswho improve thanks to it. In any case, this is what Apple reveals in a new support document dedicated tothird party developers.

But before telling you a little more about this, a little reminder is in order. THELive Activitiesare a new feature exclusive to iOS 16, which should arrive within a few weeks and which allows you to follow events in real timewithout leaving your appin use. The score of a football match, the delivery time of your home meal order or even the arrival of your Uber driver are thus compatible. But until now, it only seemed possible to follow one of these activities at a time…

An even more ingenious design

With a future version of iOS, however, it will soon be easy to have access to twoLive Activitiesat the same time. To do this, Apple has come up with a relatively simple solution which actually consists ofsplit itDynamic Islandin twolike in the image above, to make it look more like thepill + punch duo which has been talked about so much in recent weeks.

Here, the main activity would then be displayed to the left of theDynamic Islandwhile the second would be placed on the right. The user would then have the possibility tomove from one activity to anotherby touching the interface. This way the software can also provide more information by expanding the core activity bubble.

Soon?

For the moment, this solution is therefore not yet accessible. But it is likely that we will be able to benefit from it soon and more precisely when iOS 16.1,currently in beta only, will be published in final version and for everyone. The month of October promises to be the ideal calendar for Apple, but for the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max only.

Until then, all we have to do is wait to see the first third-party app creators get up to speed…
