Dynamic Island: there is indeed a change with iOS 17

  • TheDynamic Islandwas not entitled to any announcement during WWDC
  • With the update to iOS 17, however, the alarm appears there
  • Ultimately, theDynamic Islandshould disappear completely

During theWorldwide Developer Conferencewhich has just ended, many have wondered about the absence of notable new features for theDynamic Island. But this interface in the shape of a small pill, which replaces the notch on the front of the screens of the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, has definitely been improved. This is the alarm, which is now displayed there. To see it, however, you will need to have updated your mobile to iOS 17, the latest major edition of the Apple operating system available only in beta version for the moment.

We have already detailedcommentupdate your iPhone to iOS 17 (beta), as well as thelistmodels that are compatible with this version. Just be aware that it is not recommended, for the moment, to carry out the operation: it involves risks. New features can therefore become victims of bugs, which could be particularly annoying for an alarm that is supposed to wake you up before going to work.

What changes for the alarm?

The alarm in theDynamic Islandon iOS 17 displays the time for which it is scheduled, as well as two shortcuts. One allows the bubble to be closed, while the other seems dedicated tosnoozeto mute the sound and restart the ringtone a little later.

On mobiles that are not equipped with theDynamic Islandlike the third generation iPhone SE, iPhone 14 or iPhone 14 Plus, the alarm will continue to be displayed as a traditional notification. Besides, it's a safe bet that even for premium smartphones, our new product of the day does not last forever.

The end of theDynamic Islandalready on the way

And for good reason: in all likelihood, Apple is preparing, in the long term, to upgrade all of its front sensorsunder the screenof the iPhone. Whether for the FaceTime camera dedicated to video calls or for the TrueDepth sensor which is used for biometric unlocking of Face ID (face recognition). Ross Young, an analyst widely followed by investors in the Apple firm, is banking on the following timetable:

So weird. How about now?pic.twitter.com/7g9eOhJIet

These estimates would make sense given the lack of major new developments for theDynamic Islandduring WWDC. Is this design element doomed to disappear, as with theTouch BarMacBook Pros? It's very likely.
