In China, Apple reopens all its stores

While Italy is in lockdown and France is closing nurseries, schools, high schools and universities, in China the situation is gradually improving, with the number of new cases falling.

As a reminder, the coronavirus epidemic has significantly reduced Apple's sales due to store closures.

In February, the Cupertino company indicated to its investors that its objectives would not be achieved for the next quarterly results.

In addition to its supply chain being affected, which could cause iPhone shortages, the decline in sales is also affecting Apple.

Supply problems and closures that caused a collapse in sales

“[..] demand for our products in China has been affected. All of our stores in China and many of our partner stores have been closed. Additionally, open stores are operating at reduced hours and with very low customer traffic”, explained Apple in its press release.

But today we learn that Apple has now reopened all of its stores in the Middle Kingdom.

As a Bloomberg article explains, Apple has already gradually reopened stores. Last week, of its 42 stores, 38 were already reopened.

And this Friday, the Cupertino company reopened all of its 42 stores in China.

The information was reportedly confirmed by a company representative.

On the other hand, in Italy, Apple has decided to close all of its stores due to the coronavirus epidemic.

For the moment, Apple has not officially communicated figures on the impact that these closures had on its sales in China. However, a few days ago werelayeda Reuters article which indicated that smartphone sales in the Middle Kingdom fell by 54.7% in February 2020, compared to February 2019.

And as for iPhones, Apple has reportedly only shipped more than 500,000, compared to 1.27 million in February 2019.

Of course, we will have a clearer picture when the firm's next quarterly results are announced.
