Study: how do we discover new apps in a post iOS 11 App Store

Launched in 2008, the App Store
had not changed design until the arrival of iOS 11 which introduced
an App Store
completely revised
with a new interface, a redesign of the tabs
and above all a big emphasis on editorial content via a new tab
"Today".

The Sensor Tower firm which analyzes App trends every month
Store, has just published the results of a study which looks into
how users discover new appsIn
a revamped App Store with iOS 11.

According to Sensor Tower data, the proportion of downloads
of apps following navigation in the App Store increased by 5 points for
represent15% of iOS app downloads. Before iOS 11,
this figure was around 10%.

Howeverresearch continues to remain the main
AVERAGE
through which users discover new apps with
65% of app downloads. This figure isless
high for gaming
, since it represents56% of
downloads
.

Downloading games via browsing the Apple Store is no longer
important, because potential players do not always know what they are going to
download for entertainment, while for apps, users
are looking for an app that performs a certain task.

The results of this study suggest that the new editorial section of
the App Store has partly succeeded in its bet with its promotion of apps and
games by Apple's editorial teams which appeal to some of the
users.

And you, how do you discover new apps since iOS 11?
