Facebook offers itself an advertising page to criticize Apple

This is a controversial feature. As part of its updatevers iOS 14, Apple plans to install an option that allows it to deactivate behavior tracking by application publishers and also to inform its users of such practices. Since then, some developers have expressed their dissatisfaction and this is the case of Facebook which is increasing its statements on this subject.

The rag burns between Apple and Facebook

The company has just published a series of advertisements in the newspapers. In particular, we can read in the title: “We stand up against Apple, to defend small businesses».

Concretely, Facebook disputes the way in which these changes risk preventing targeted advertising:

While limiting the use of personalized ads will impact large businesses like us, these changes will be devastating for small businesses, adding to the many challenges they currently face. Small businesses deserve to be heard. We hear your concerns and we stand with you.

Not long ago, Apple had alreadyanswered directlyto Facebook: “Facebook executives have made it clear that their intention is to collect as much data as possible from first- and third-party products to develop and monetize detailed profiles of their users, and this disregard for user privacy continues to expand to include more of their products.»

The Cupertino company delayed the release of this feature to give developers time to prepare, but it should take place at the beginning of 2021.
