The American insurance company UnitedHealthcare has just launched a new campaign called “reward”. It promises to reward members of the latter with winnings of up to $1000. In order to leave with such a sum, the company only asks participants to complete simple sporting challenges.
Withan Apple Watch(or another connected watch), the UnitedHealthcare Reward program suggests walking at least 5,000 steps per day, doing 15 minutes of daily activity and monitoring your sleep cycle for at least two weeks. In addition to these good habits to take every day, the group asks participants to fill out a health form before offering them money.
As Brandon Cuevas, director of growth for the insurance company, explains, such a program can be a very good help for“helping more of our members stay healthy, prevent or more effectively manage chronic diseases, and ultimately make health care more affordable for individuals and employers.” »
The money collected can end up directly on a prepaid card for everyday purchases or on the health insurance account of the people in question. This will help finance part of their medical care in the coming years.
Obesity: an American evil?
The question of public health has been at the heart of numerous debates in recent years in the United States. In Uncle Sam's country, one in three people suffer from obesity. The country thus ranks 18th in the world. France is 65th in this ranking with a rate of obese people estimated at around 23%.
A major cause of Michele Obama's mandate during the election of her husband Barrack to the White House, several programs have been launched in recent years to get Americans back in shape. Few offered financial compensation as UnitedHealth does.
