Has the Palme d’Or had babies? According to a report from investment bank JP Morgan Chase, the iPhone 14 series could have titanium-wrapped editions. Note that this is not the first rumor that the firm has spread, which leads us to believe that its interests also weigh in the balance. Especially since Apple's quarterly results will be revealed tomorrow.
As a reminder, there are already devices from the Californian brand made of titanium: these are of course the Apple Watch. These, however, appear to have a price five hundred euros higher than their aluminum cousins. It is therefore a safe bet that the 2022 iPhones will also be entitled to an increased price with this material, if it actually appears in the collection.
Foxconn in production
As is often the case, the Hon Hai Precision Industry Company would be responsible for assembling the titanium iPhones, but this time exclusively. The company seems particularly in good shape, withrevenues up 20% according to his own words. It must be said that we also owe him the assembly of the entire iPhone 12 range, taking place in India and China.

At the moment, we don't really know where Apple could integrate titanium into its next smartphones. A clue could nevertheless be found in the technical sheet of previous versions. Indeed, one of the differences between the iPhone 12 – iPhone 12 mini duo and the iPhone 12 Pro – iPhone 12 Pro Max pair concerns the frame of the mobiles; in aluminum for the former but in stainless steel for the latter. Addressing the edges rather than the entire shell would thus make it possible to reduce costs for the manufacturer, but also the final mass of the product, titanium being much heavier than aluminum.
Only on Pro versions?
Better resistant to fingerprints, scratches and corrosion, titanium is today considered a relatively high-end metal. Apple could therefore only offer it on its iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max, if they kept the same nomenclature as today. What's more, still in the bank's opinion, these mobile phones would not be available in compact format as is currently the case with the iPhone 12 mini.
Let's end by specifying that JP Morgan Chase, although quite reliable in general, remains rather unknown to the battalion when it comes to predicting the future of headed products. For comparison,Barclays is a little more efficient in this area.
