Last month,We
we were talking to youfrom an American company called Grayshift which makes
promotion of a tool called "GrayKey" in the form of a small, expensive box
from 15,000 to 30,000 dollars, and which allows you to crack any iPhone model
password protected and running iOS 11.
According to a new report published by the Motherboard site, this tool is
increasingly used by government agencies
Americanand by thepolice servicesin the
different states in the United States.
Selon Motherboard, the FBI uses GrayKey to access the
contents of different iPhones in several cases, something that was
impossible before, because Apple had in 2016 refused to create a
modified version of iOS allowing them to unlock any iPhone in
the case of unlocking the iPhone 5c of the San terrorist and killer
Bernardino.
The GrayKey tool looks like a black, portable, square-shaped box with
with two Lightning cables coming out of it. Two iPhones can be
connected at the same time on GrayKey for at least two minutes so that
the tool installs proprietary software on iPhones.
This software will then take care of trying to guess the code of
unlocking by trying all possible combinations, a process that
can lasta few hours for a 4-digit code, et
untilseveral days for a 6-digit code.
The GrayKey tool designed by the startup Grayshift which counts among its
employees, Braden Thomas, a computer security engineer who worked
for six years at Apple.
It is likely that this tool will not work for very long overall.
case with the next versions of iOS, because the Cupertino company must
certainly try to acquire one of these boxes to correct the flaw
exploited, unless it was already done in iOS 11.2.6 or iOS 11.3.
